How do we collect information?  

We obtain some personal information from you when you visit our website or connect with us in some way. This includes, enquiring about our activities, register with us, signing up to our newsletter, making a donation, of applying / for one of our Awards.

What information do we collect? 

Included in the personal details we collect might be your name, date of birth, email address, postal address, telephone number and credit/debit card details. We also collect more relevant information regarding your circumstances and activities specifically related to Award applications.

We also gather general information about the use of our websites, such as which pages users visit most often and which services, events or facilities are of most interest. We may also track which pages users visit when they click on links in CiaO Foundation emails, email newsletters, digital media and other links via our social media platforms. 

We may use this detail to edit our website, make improvements and help us deliver a better experience and best service for visitors and users.  Wherever we can, we use anonymously collected information  and data which does not identify individual visitors to our websites.

How do we use collected information?

  • help us keep in contact with you (if you have joined our mailing list)  
  • continue to provide you with the services and information you have requested;

  • help our administration purposes;
  • further our charitable intentions, including fundraising activities.

Where applicable, we may also assess the personal information  you provide for the determination of fraud and credit risk reduction.

The choice of  whether you want to receive information about our charity, its progress and any fundraising activities we undertake, is yours. If you do not wish to be contacted by us, we will not use your personal information for marketing purposes. Our online forms on all our pages are protected by encryption. When taking donations or payments, via our website we use a secure server. 

Appropriate measures are taken to ensure that the personal information you provide to us is kept secure, accurate, up to date and kept only for so long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is used.

Will we disclose the information we collect to outside parties?

Your personal information may be passed on to service providers that undertake action on our behalf,  e.g. companies that post our newsletters, agents that provide data services to clean our data: and associated organisations e.g. suppliers for the purpose of completing tasks, such as mailing you or updating your personal information and providing services to you.  We will make sure there are appropriate controls in place where we use such service providers and they must always sign a confidentiality agreement where your data is kept securely and only used for the purpose of the CiaO Foundation and the carrying out of actions for which they have been appointed.


Our websites includes links to sites run by other organisations. The CiaO Foundation is not responsible for the privacy practices of other  companies, organisations or their websites, so you should read their privacy policies carefully.
